“Alexa, open Super Quiz of the Day!”
A brand-new quiz skill has just launched for Amazon Alexa featuring the voice of a different celebrity each day. Super Quiz of the Day is a fun and topical general knowledge quiz hosted by top TV and radio impressionist Jon Culshaw and ‘friends’.
Every day, Jon will introduce a new special guest, impersonated by him, who will reveal the question category and comment on the player’s ability to answer (or not). The quiz gives a new daily multiple-choice question, selected from a variety of categories and as well as testing the player’s knowledge, it offers up fun facts and jokes making it more of an interactive learning experience.
Jon Culshaw is warmly regarded by many as Britain’s best impressionist with an unmatched versatility and a catalogue of over 350 voices and impersonations. He is well known for shows such as BBC Radio 4’s ‘Dead Ringers’, BBC1’s ‘The Impressions Show’, ITV’s ‘Spitting Image’, ‘Newzoids’, ‘The Impressionable Jon Culshaw’ and ‘The Royal Variety Performance’ as well as radio appearances and UK tour ‘The Great British Take Off’.
The game will feature Jon’s impressions of celebrities such as Prof Brian Cox, Sir David Attenborough, Donald Trump, Boris Johnson, John Bishop, Ian Hislop, Prince Charles and more.
Jon says: “I’ve always been fascinated by characters and voices so I’m naturally intrigued about the potential of 21st Century voice technology. We’ll have a real C3PO soon I’m sure! This is my first Alexa skill game and it was huge fun and very interesting to work on. I hope people enjoy playing it!”
Super Quiz of the Day is free to play on all Alexa enabled devices and also offers a paid subscription allowing quizzers to unlock three extra multiple-choice questions every day and compete on a global leader board. Devices with a screen will feature interactive graphics to complement the experience, but with voice as the primary interaction, it can be played on any Alexa device.
It has been developed by Vocala, the team behind top voice titles Pointless and Deal or No Deal. The studio is recommended by Amazon as an experienced skills developer.
